Multi-Panel

Bio
Multi-Panel is Ludo Maas (1985), a Dutch musician from Breda who has been active under this rather mysterious moniker since 1999. It all started with drum software – who still recalls Little Drummer Boy? – and deepened when he began using acoustic instruments for his living room experiments. Before turning eighteen, he made a record for Unschooled Records, and consequently his music was played on college radio in the US of A. With help from Pien Feith, Jarno Volman, Femke Dekkers, as well as the compliments of Vice, he made 3 more records over the following years. In 2019 the logical end of Ludo’s musical career seemed to have been reached with the aptly titled Empty Handed. But Ludo soon rediscovered his love for ‘fruity loops’ working in a thrift store. He began a monumental task: sampling 100 cheap secondhand records to create a postmodern work of art. The result is called Soft Waving with a Tik. Inspired by sampling heroes like Solex, Bauer, DJ Shadow, J Dilla and The Avalanches, expertly mastered by childhood friend Djuri Boot, it’s easily Multi-Panel’s zaniest and most poppy album to date. 25 years after starting out, it sounds like Ludo is the Little Drummer Boy himself.
