Today we’ll release this new record by wh^rl. Double LP, CD and digital versions, all looking pretty sharp. Woohoo!
wh^rl is the solo debut of 59-year old Groninger Jurgen Veenstra (Avery Plains, MOAN, Moonlizards, Meindert Talma), who is not hiding behind walls of noise anymore, but who is making a big emotional impact with his bare & beautiful lo-fi songs.
On his self-titled debut, Veenstra delivers 15 songs that – for the untrained listener – fall into the ‘singer-songwriter’ idiom, but are much broader and deeper, filled with decades of life experience and listening to all kinds of music. Each song enhabits its own lo-fi universe, here and there hinting at indie rock, folk, blues, noise, americana and ambient.
The word is out! We have a new signing and we’re over the moon with it! Let’s welcome wh^rl to the Tiny Room family đ
On November 24 we release “wh^rl”, a self-titled double LP, the solo debut of Groninger Jurgen Veenstra (Avery Plains, Moan, Moonlizards). Jurgen is not hiding behind walls of noise anymore, but making a huge emotional impact with his bare & beautiful lo-fi songs. More info soon!
We are proud to release The Inversion, the second collage zine by Bilthoven-based artist The World of Dust. This 56-page full colour A5 zine comes as a successor to 2017’s Golden Moon zine. With these new collages – which, by the way, all have cool titles – The World of Dust further explores his usual mindful, surreal universe of imagery and sound. Vivid colors, nature, animals, humor and spirituality go hand in hand in his beautiful work.Â
Released at the same time is a set with 5 postcards, all containing an exclusive collage (which are not part of the zine). Great to send your loved ones something unique, weird and lovely, while at the same time supporting the work of a DIY artist.
Today we release the 60th record on our label! Microwolfâs Changelings is a jazzy postfolktrip through both the blissful and heavier sides of becoming a father. Itâs also his swan song, because this album says it all. Itâs beyond âgoodâ, itâs really unique and special. We are heavily in love with it. Listen to it on all streaming platforms or buy the vinyl on our Bandcamp page!
About that, today itâs Bandcamp Friday. So we (in this case Microwolf) get to keep all profits and Bandcamp doesnât take its usual 10-15% cut. Itâs a good day for ordering! Weâve also put online a lot of âlast copiesâ or âlast two copiesâ of some releases that we thought were out of stock. And some new World of Dust merch (zine and postcards). Combine and make your move!
We are proud to present the second single from the new Microwolf album Changelings (about to be dropped on the 1st of September), called Life That Wills. And this one even comes with a video!
Life That Wills is an ode to the resilience and power of life. The lyrics consist almost entirely of one quote from theologian and philosopher Albert Schweitzer: “I’m life that wills to live in the midst of life that wills to live.” This duet with Harold K is one of the poppier songs on the album. It’s a great choice for a single and it should be part of all your Indie Summer playlists In our humble opinion…
We’re happy to announce that we’re back from our little release-hiatus with this new artist, single and album announcement! We welcome Microwolf to our Tiny Room family. In September, his amazing fourth album Changelings will come out on our label.Â
Today, we’re releasing the first single from this record, Burning Crops. This jazzy postfolktrip is at the center of a record about both the blissful and the heavier sides of becoming a father. Burning Crops, a song about letting go of the ego, falls in between these sides. There are guest appearances by Romke Burger, Jarno van Es and Arno Breuer.
Listen now on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer etc., and brace yourself for this beautiful, radical, intimate and unique LP that will drop right after summer.Â
We are so proud of what we released in 2022! Vinyl and CDs, eight releases that make the world a little bit more beautiful. A big shout out to all those musicians that wanted to âworkâ with us on their releases and put their faith in Tiny Room. We had a blast putting things together, promoting what we could, distributing and selling these awesome records and CDs all over the world.
It started early in January with Truth Jump Fall, the 10 Year Anniversary vinyl reissue of the Toby Goodshank album (regularly spun in the Tiny Room HQ the past 10 years). In March, the first of two Moonchy & Tobias albums was released. Golem, like the December release Wild Eye, took on weirder and groovier territories – making both CDs unmissable for Moonchy & Tobias collectors, and in art rock collections in general.
Logout also had two releases: the great and super limited 10â Instrumentals (sold out in a wink) and the accessible Greek pop album Ponemela. This guy keeps evolving and improving, we are so happy to have these albums in our catalogue. Just before summer, the first Caspar Milquetoast EP (you can also call it a short album) was released on CD. Weâll Have Tea was put together by the 21-year old Amani Mohed from The Hague, with a little help from label boss Stefan Breuer. This is an enormous talent who has a lot of more in the pipeline. This is only the beginning.
After Summer, we put a lot of focus on the latest World of Dust record, Gaman. This acoustic folk album had been years in the making and itâs definitely one of the more warm & soothing records that came out on Tiny Room Records. People seem to love it. A month later, the second album by Utrecht post-punk band Combo Qazam came out, called Ghost Interior. Darker, heavier and with more depth, the band proved they are on a winning streak Charlie Sheen would be proud of.
Letâs celebrate these albums by listening to them, streaming them, buying physical copies, sending the artists some nice words, sending the music through to a friend, etc. EVERYTHING HELPS.
In 2023, weâre taking a small break from releasing new music. Probably until August. We need it. There is some beautiful stuff lined up for the fall though, donât worry. Cheers yâall!
Out now! Wild Eye by Moonchy & Tobias. The last release of the year. Enjoy this mix of ethereal, nocturnal pieces and unnerving tribal bedrock. Get it on CD on our Bandcamp page, or stream it on your preferred streaming platform.
De Subjectivisten: âthey immerse you in a sound that comes from a parallel universe and is simply uniqueâ Here Comes The Flood: âWild Eye offers a different perspective for anyone who wants to look beyond the safe routes and explore new ways to enjoy musicâ
We are proud to release the second album by Combo Qazam today! On Ghost Interior, the Utrecht-based post-punk/krautrock/math rock band pursues the suffering of being human. It’s out on 12″ vinyl with another mind-blowing sleeve (made by Carolin Kastner). Only 100 of these waxy friends were being made, so get it while you can:
Platomania: âa masterpieceâ WoNo Magazine: âCombo Qazam takes me along some new roads. highways, byways and dirt tracks. The trip is nice and well worth it, surprises and all.â Here Comes The Flood: âthey are blessed with seemingly limitless ideas to work within self-imposed boundariesâ Luminous Dash: âRevision brings rhythmic simplicity in combination with surprising, noisy excesses and on Repeater and Hydra they actually make us dance to their cheerful, infectious math rhythmsâ
Tonight, Combo Qazam celebrates this release with an evening of underground music in ACU, Utrecht. Also playing are Tonsils from Belgium, and the new Tiny Room revelation Caspar Milquetoast. After tonight, the band plays more shows in The Netherlands. Be sure to check them out.
Logout‘s sixth album Ponemela is out now! On the album you will find nine songs that are like indoor photos, arranged in order of brightness. The songs operate between happiness and sorrow. It’s about getting used to pain and being okay about it. The entire album is sung in Greek again and it’s a beautiful slice of dreampop greatness.
